The Waltons

We're reading a pretty good book in 7th ELA, and today this book mentioned the old TV show The Waltons. Being 12 in 2009, none of my kids had any idea what that is, so I was explaining the basic story line and how at the end of every show, the famiy would all lie in bed and yell,"Goodnight, Mary Ellen!", "Good Night Pa!", "Good night Jimbo!" (or whoever else was in the house) and finally, "Good night John Boy!" as they turned out their lights. At this point a girl remembered that this was the show with that guy with the mole, and the kids all thought this was hilarious and started making fun of the show. The class next door heard, "Good night, Javier!", "Good night, Miguel!", "Good night, Umberto!", "Buenas noches, Juanito!". I sense a remake coming on. (Go for it, Fox!) Things sure have changed up here on Walton Mountain.
